About Alan Solomon
Experienced Legal Guidance With a Practical Approach
Attorney Alan Solomon has spent more than two decades helping clients navigate difficult legal matters involving divorce, family law, probate, and related disputes.
Since establishing his own practice in 2012, Alan has focused on providing straightforward, individualized representation built around the circumstances of each client and case. Today, family law and divorce are the primary focus of his practice, along with select probate, probate litigation, and mediation matters.
Alan believes clients deserve more than legal knowledge alone. They deserve an attorney who is honest about their options, respectful of the financial impact of legal representation, and willing to recommend a change in direction when a different approach may better serve the client’s interests.
What Clients Can Expect From Alan
Honest & Straightforward Guidance
Legal disputes often involve difficult decisions. Alan focuses on giving clients realistic advice rather than simply telling them what they want to hear.
When circumstances change or a different strategy may be appropriate, he is willing to have that conversation and explain why.
Respect for the Cost of Legal Representation
Alan understands that legal matters can create significant financial concerns.
His approach emphasizes efficiency and thoughtful preparation while making sure important legal and financial issues receive the attention they require. This reflects one of Alan’s stated concerns about attorneys who overpromise, underdeliver, and create unnecessary costs for clients.
Individual Attention
Every family law matter involves different people, finances, priorities, and circumstances.
Alan does not believe in treating every case the same. He works to understand the issues involved, explain the available options, and develop a strategy based on the individual client’s needs.
Prepared for Negotiation or Litigation
Not every dispute needs to be resolved in court, but not every case can be settled outside of it.
Alan approaches each matter with an eye toward practical resolution while remaining prepared to advocate for his clients when litigation becomes necessary.

Experience That Informs His Approach
Alan was admitted to the Maryland State Bar in 1993 and the District of Columbia Bar in 1994.
Over the course of his career, he has developed substantial experience handling family law matters and other contested legal disputes. He has also been qualified as an expert witness in family law cases.
His practice today is centered primarily on family law and divorce, while also handling probate and probate litigation matters. Alan has also completed mediation training as he expands the firm’s ability to help clients explore alternatives to prolonged litigation.
That range of experience allows Alan to evaluate a legal matter from more than one perspective - whether the best path involves negotiation, settlement, mediation, or court intervention.
